FAQs

How do Silver Nursing Cups work?

Silver has been used as a topical antimicrobial agent for hundreds of years in wound care. Even today dressings with silver nanoparticles are used to heal severe wounds. Studies have shown that Silver ions have anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties.

SilverNurture nursing cups are designed in such a manner that when they touch the skin, they provide a healing and soothing effect during any phase of breastfeeding journey.  Silver Nursing Cups have been dermatologically tested by an independent FDA approved lab for safe human use.

Why do mothers prefer Silver Nursing Cups?

Soreness and skin irritation is a very common problem during breastfeeding journey, which can also result in latching issues. Creams or homemade remedies are frequently used but they don’t provide healing, especially in early days because a mother has to breastfeed almost every 2-3 hours. This limits the effectiveness of creams and ointments. Also, another major reason for sustained pain is friction that exists between the fabric of the bra or any other cloth and the nipples.

Having a protective layer of Silver Nursing Cups helps greatly in avoiding this pain.

How to use the SIlverNurture Nursing Cups?

  • Gently place the cup over the nipple
  • Wear a comfortable bra to hold the cups in place
  • Express a few drops of milk into each nursing cup before placing them on the nipple, for calming effect, this is completely optional and not essential for effect of nursing cups
  • For added cooling effect, put them in the freezer for 10-15 minutes before use
  • It is advised not to use cups along with any other creams or ointments as that might compromise the benefit and effectiveness of the product
  • Prior to breastfeeding, remove the cups and clean the nipples with water or a water wipe. Once feeding is completed, rinse the cups with water, dry and place gently over the nipples.
  • If you are using absorbent breast pads, put them over the cups and then wear a bra
  • It is advised to start using cups a few days before childbirth to avoid early onset of irritation, cuts, soreness, or cracks
